Final results for Division 1 in the season 2011-12
The shoot-off between Balerno & Currie and Selkirk to decide the outcome of the 2011-12 league Division 1 took place on Tuesday 2nd October at Pathhead’s neutral range. Here is the result and a commentary by League Organiser Angus Paterson:
Both teams arrived nice and early, in fact before me.
Some with bags and cases so big I was looking for the 3.5 tonner which brought them there!
Both teams settled down quickly and agreed to have details 1 & 2 shot by the same four shooters then details 3 & 4 by the last four shooters.
Alasdair Horne (Balerno & Currie) on his 1st detail shot a possible, only to let himself shoot a 5 off in his 2nd detail. (must have got too excited).
The rest on the first two details all shot remarkably close in dropped points.
Details 3 and 4:
Detail 3, Sinclair Bruce (Balerno & Currie) came straight in after shooting a 100 yard card, onto the 25 yard range shooting a 4 off, his next detail he had settled in and shot his possible.
Again all the other shooters were very closely matched.
However the 2 possibles on the same team made all the difference with Balerno & Currie taking the match with 25 dropped points to Selkirk’s 32.
The Shield had been returned to LSSA Committee at the AGM and so was unfortunately not available for the Champions to take away on the evening of winning it.
Tea and biscuits were provided by Pathhead, whose host on the night was Jim Hind. The Association gives its thanks and appreciation for the use of their range to hold this event. Here is the full scorecard
