Shoulder-to-Shoulder League: For club teams of four, who visit each others' ranges for home and away fixtures. Two 10-shot targets per shooter, and the team with the better score ex 800 wins two points (one each for a tie).  The number of teams per division can vary depending on the submitted averages of the teams entered.

The Matchplay League takes place concurrently.  Before each match starts the home team captain lists his team in any order he wishes, and the away team captain then matches each one of his  team members against one of the home team shooters.  Each pair of home and away shooters then has an individual match between themselves, and two points are awarded for each win, one for a tie. Over the season, the team with the most Matchplay points in each division wins a trophy.

Click here to see a copy of the Regulations for this competition.  These were revised after the 2010 AGM.  Here's a summary of the changes and some background:

A point was raised at the 2010 AGM about the the use of reserves in Division 2 of the S/S league.  The issue was that one club had used a reserve with a much higher average than the team member being replaced and this was regarded at the very least least as unfair.  It had since been established that doing that was not specifically against the rules (in fact the previous outdated rule actually demanded that the best available shooter be used if a reserve is required), and the meeting decided to clear this situation up by adopting the NSRA rules for composition of teams and use of reserves. Accordingly, NSRA Rule 7.9 has been incorporated into the Rules with the exception of the point about team scores being reduced by the difference between the reserve's average and the registered shooter being replaced if the reserve's average is higher.  This was thought to be impractical in the S/S league situation, so an alternative wording has been incorporated into Rule 5(g).  Team organisers should note this change.

The opportunity has been taken to change the challenge fee from 5p to £2 (Rule 19) and also to add a rule to determine how to split a tie in the Matchplay (new MP Rule 4), as the AGM requested. A new rule 18 (c) concerning sighting shots has been added.
