Competitions & Results
The Association provides
a wide-ranging selection of competitions for its affiliates. All
take place in the winter indoor season (October to March).

This year (2010) the County could not raise a team. Well, with only two days to go we did eventually find the minimum of five team members (the teams are best five from six), but come the day one member was unavoidably prevented from attending due to the Icelandic volcano ash problem which stopped him returning from Germany in time. Our teams were withdrawn and the entry fee refunded. The captain is despairing of the difficulty of selecting a team for this match. Initially he approached 27 potential team members, mostly members of the current county league teams, but also including students originally from Edinburgh now at other universities. After a week, only six of these 27 had bothered to reply. After two reminders more put their hands on their keyboards but he is still waiting for six to let him know they are still alive. This is impolite at best and insulting to both the captain and the Association at worst. We'll try again next year, I guess.
